Today is the Autumn Equinox, when day and night stand in balance, and warmth and chill meet in harmony. The equinox brings not only the joy of harvest, but also a quiet beauty between heaven and earth.

As the saying goes, "When the Autumn Equinox arrives, eggs stand tall." On this day, people keep the tradition of balancing eggs. This is because the Earth's axis is in a position of relative balance with its orbit around the Sun. Freshly harvested eggs, full and heavy, are easier to stand upright. From this custom, the art of egg carving was born.

Craftsmen take the knife as their brush, engraving worlds onto shells as thin as 0.3 millimeters. They carve laurel trees, jade rabbits, and scenes of harvest, capturing the rhythm of nature and the changes of heaven and earth in a fragile shell.

On this Autumn Equinox, why not try standing an egg, to feel the balance between heaven and earth? Or step closer to egg carving, to discover how the Chinese transform fragility into eternity, and contain the vast cosmos within the smallest of spaces.
